The Idol audition

So, I didn't make it. No surprise there though. I made the huge mistake of not sleeping...at all. I couldn't sleep that night and left for SLC at 3 in the morning. There was no point to being there that early, but it was pretty fun cause everyone was just laying around in a big group. If I ever decide to audition again I will definitely sleep and show up at 8, when they actually let you in. They say you have to be there by 5, but you really don't. So, I lost my voice by the time it was my turn. I was so disappointed because I practiced a lot and I sounded really good, but then when it came time to tryout my voice was gone...I wasn't even nervous which was an accomplishment in itself, but my voice was all raspy and I couldn't sing. I just hate it cause I know I can sing and I kind of embarrassed myself. Luckily it wasn't filmed this round.

Even if my voice was there I really doubt I would have made it. I had only seen about 10 people go through before I had auditioned and that was out of like 1,000 people! Oh, and only 2 or 3 of them were girls! I heard so many amazing people that got turned down...it really made me question the legitimacy of the show. But I had a good time and I am glad I went!

idol part 2

Here is a little update:
I woke up at about 3:45 on Sunday morning, which was later than I was planning. Catherine had stayed the night so we took off and got there at about 4:30. There were already about 6-800 people in front of us in line. We waited for hours next to some interesting people. Unfortunately we were next to the port-o-potties, so it smelled a bit. At about 7:30 they started letting people in. It didn't take much time at all and we were out of there by 8. I was very tired, but still had to go to church and teach the primary class. Emery and I were in charge of sharing time, which went pretty well. Then I came home and slept for a very long time.

Tomorrow morning we are heading up to the auditions at about 3...well we will see when we actually get out of here, lol. I am so excited my stomach hurts! I need to not be so nervous!

Idol Registration

So late tonight/early tomorrow (about 3 a.m.) I am headed to Salt Lake to wait in line for the American Idol registration. It is not the actual audition day, but basically the earlier you register the better your chances are. They give out wristbands and seat tickets based on how early you register, so I hope to be somewhere toward the beginning, but who knows how many people will show up. It will probably be around 8-10,000 people total. I am actually really excited to wait in line and see all the amazing singers and crazy people, lol. The problem is I think I fall somewhere in between, which makes my chances slim to none...confidence has always been a big part of my problem. I wonder how many people will dress up in a weird costume, lol. My friend Catherine is going with me, but she isn't going to be trying out. She is going to be very cranky, because she does not like getting up early (neither do I). I will try to update this tomorrow and hopefully have some pics!

oh well

Well, I botched the musical audition. I don't know what happened, but my nerves got the best of me. It has been so long since I have auditioned for anything. I sang the wrong words and asked to start over...I knew it was over at that point. Oh well, I am glad I at least made the effort I guess. I am still planning on going to the American Idol tryouts. That is just for fun cause I'm pretty sure it is rigged anyway and they only pick one out of 100 people to go to the next round...half of those are people are wearing costumes or just plain weirdos, lol.

I must say that I am excited about fantasy football this year. I have learned a lot about football and the players. I never thought I would say that I love watching football...but I really do! We have our draft a week from Sunday.

Emery got a new position at work. I am excited cause he will have a much better schedule- basically Monday thru Friday 7-5. It will be nice to have him home in the evenings. Maybe I will even get a part time job, but I'm not sure yet.

Back from Vegas

We just got back from Vegas on Saturday morning. It was pretty fun, but I guess it just isn't our type of place. We really aren't into losing money gambling or going to clubs or drinking. However, we do enjoy the buffets! We went to Hoover Dam, which was cool to see and we went to see Cirque Du Soleil Mystere, which was awesome! We went to a timeshare presentation to get discount tickets, but they didn't have enough salespeople to help us, so we got our discount without even having to attend the sales pitch! Emery and my sister went to see the Bodies Exhibit and they liked it. It was also nice going to the pool and getting a little bit of sun, it got up to 112 degrees! All in all, it was a great time, but I am glad to be back.

I am going to be auditioning for a musical at a local theatre. It is Aida, which I have never seen, but it looks good. I just want a small part, so hopefully I can land that. We will see...it's on the 17th! I will also be auditioning for American Idol just for the heck of it, since they are coming to SLC. That is at the end of the month. So I will be busy practicing for the next two weeks. Wish me luck!
