back from Oregon

So it has been a while since I have updated the blog. The trip to Oregon went pretty good, except Emery couldn't go. There was a problem with the inventory stuff, so he had to stay here and figure things out.

Halloween was pretty fun. Morgan was a skunk and I dressed up as a flapper. My sister went with me to a party at my friend Ryan's house. It was kind of boring, but at least I got to see some friends.

We had a birthday party for Morgan at Chuck E. Cheeses. We ate pizza and had cake, but she was scared of the big mouse, lol. Emery was really sad he couldn't be there for her birthday. Danielle and Chris, Shelly and John, Mom and Dad, and my aunt Carol were there. My aunt Carol came down from Alaska to see us, which was good. Morgan got some nice presents.

While we were in Portland we also went to visit my Grandpa and his wife Millie. I went down to Western Oregon University to visit my sister and Morgan had a good time there. There was also a trip to the indian casino with mom and dad, which is always bound to happen when I come home...I love the buffet. I think that is about all I did, but it was a long two weeks away from home without Emery.

I haven't done much since I have been back. I still have morning sickness and I just wish it would go away. I made a doctors appointment for the first week of December. It will be nice to hear the heartbeat for the first time and make sure everything is going well.

We started decorating for Christmas already. It is my favorite holiday by far! We put up lights outside, but we still need more. I think we are going to be like Clark Griswold when we are older and always try to outdo the neighbors! I think we will put the tree up after Thanksgiving.

For Thanksgiving we are going up to Emery's parents house. It should be fun. There are going to be so many people there. My family is going to come here for Christmas and I am soooo excited. The last time they came for Christmas we were in the process of moving, so it wasn't great...now I have to redeem myself!

I hate being sick

I have been sick sick sick lately. This has to be the worst part of being pregnant. Well besides after your epidural wears off and you are incredibly sore down there from an 8.5 pound baby coming out. But at least that pain goes away quicker and you can actually take medication to make you feel better. Morning sickness is terrible. I am almost positive this will be our last kiddo. Pregnancy is too hard on me and kids are too expensive. I mean a big family sounds great in theory, but in this day and age it is becoming more difficult. I already have to worry about raising two good kids in this crazy world.

So I went in to quit my job yesterday and was convinced to just take a leave of absence while I feel like crap. We will see if I ever actually want to go back.

We fly to P-Town in three days! I have been really looking forward to it. I talked to my friend Marchelle on the phone today and it made me excited to see my friends too. I just feel like they all think I am boring now that I have a kid. It is hard making that transition to adulthood. But I am very excited that my friend Danielle is prego and we will have our kids about a month apart. I still need to go see the Dr. but I am too cheap right now. Once i get back I will schedule an appointment.

Well, I must get back to watching football now!

I have some news...

I am pregnant again! It is pretty exciting! We have told our families, but I have only told one of my friends. I am waiting until I get up to Portland at the end of the month. They will all just think I am crazy anyway! It is a little scary, since our kids will only be about 17 months apart...but we will manage. I haven't been too sick this time around, but I am only at about 6 or 7 weeks. I do have a hard time sleeping, but I am tired all the time so it is weird.

Work is going ok. I am not sure if I like being a waitress or not...I don't love it, but I guess it isn't terrible. It will be nice to have some extra income though.

Fall is here and I am happy! It is time to start decorating...I got a couple things from the craft store today and I will post pictures once I get finished. I decided not to decorate for Halloween this year, since we won't be here for it. So it will just be Thanksgiving and Fall stuff. I am super duper excited to decorate for Christmas though, that is my favorite! Last year I picked up a bunch of things on clearance, so I should be good to go. I am really hoping that my family will be able to come down here for Christmas this year.

my new job

So, I got a job at Olive Garden! I will be a server and I am excited, but nervous cause I have never served before. It is a new restaurant opening up, so I have just been doing training this week and we open up Monday night! I have gotten to taste all of the dishes and learn about all the entrees and such. It should be fun...well for a job. It will be sad cause Emery and I will work opposite shifts and we won't see each other as much, but it will probably only be three or four nights a week.

Our trip to Portland is a month away and I am anxiously awaiting this little vacation. It will be so good to see the fam again...they will not believe how much the little one has grown!

Denver-part two

On Sunday we went to the Broncos game. We got all decked out with makeup, hair spray and fan apparel. The game was so fun and the Broncos won...even though there was a controversial call from the ref. I can't wait to go to another game! Here are pics of the Broncos warming up, entering the field and playing!

Denver-part one

So we got back from Denver early Monday morning. It was soooo fun and a much needed vacation. Saturday we went to Boulder and looked around at the shops and there was a gay pride thing going on...I made Dan and Emery take a picture together and it was too funny. Then we went up Boulder Canyon and it was really pretty.

So close to Denver time!

We leave for Denver on Friday and I am soooo excited! I can't wait to see our first live NFL game. I also love traveling to new cities. It will be sad because we have to leave the baby with a babysitter for 4 days...I will miss her so much! I'm sure she will be fine though, we will probably call to check in a million times. It's times like this when I wish we were in Portland so my family could watch her.

Speaking of Portland, we got tickets to go there at the end of October. Emery will be coming this time, which will be great. My aunt will probably come down from Alaska too, cause she hasn't seen our beautiful little girl yet. It will be awesome to see her again! I also can't wait to see my Grandpa...he had to go to the hospital the other day cause he fell and hurt himself, but he is doing better now.

I finally set up my fish tank again. I kept putting it off cause I thought we would move, but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. It doens't have fish in it yet cause you are supposed to let the water filter first and stuff. I think I will get angelfish, but I'm not sure yet.

Our car battery died yesterday. We tried jumping it, but it just wont work, so we have to go buy a battery today. That was money I did not want to spend, but that is life...I think I am going to get a part time job. I'm not sure where though. I applied at a couple places, so we will see what happens. It will just be nice to have some spending money.

Well, the baby is crying so I have to see what's up...

Fantasy Football

So it is that time of the year again...time for football! Ok, well I have only been into football since last year. I never watched sports growing up, except for an occasional Blazers game. But last year I decided to do fantasy football with Emery and his friends at work. It really made watching the games so much fun and I learned so much about the game! I actually ended up winning my league!

So this year we are all playing again. I like my team a lot and I have a pretty good chance again. Oh, and....we are going to a game!!! We are going to the Denver Broncos/San Diego Chargers game. I have wanted to go to Denver for a while now cause it seems like a cool city and now we have the chance to go with a bunch of people. It's only a little over 2 weeks away and I can't wait!

The Idol audition

So, I didn't make it. No surprise there though. I made the huge mistake of not sleeping...at all. I couldn't sleep that night and left for SLC at 3 in the morning. There was no point to being there that early, but it was pretty fun cause everyone was just laying around in a big group. If I ever decide to audition again I will definitely sleep and show up at 8, when they actually let you in. They say you have to be there by 5, but you really don't. So, I lost my voice by the time it was my turn. I was so disappointed because I practiced a lot and I sounded really good, but then when it came time to tryout my voice was gone...I wasn't even nervous which was an accomplishment in itself, but my voice was all raspy and I couldn't sing. I just hate it cause I know I can sing and I kind of embarrassed myself. Luckily it wasn't filmed this round.

Even if my voice was there I really doubt I would have made it. I had only seen about 10 people go through before I had auditioned and that was out of like 1,000 people! Oh, and only 2 or 3 of them were girls! I heard so many amazing people that got turned down...it really made me question the legitimacy of the show. But I had a good time and I am glad I went!

idol part 2

Here is a little update:
I woke up at about 3:45 on Sunday morning, which was later than I was planning. Catherine had stayed the night so we took off and got there at about 4:30. There were already about 6-800 people in front of us in line. We waited for hours next to some interesting people. Unfortunately we were next to the port-o-potties, so it smelled a bit. At about 7:30 they started letting people in. It didn't take much time at all and we were out of there by 8. I was very tired, but still had to go to church and teach the primary class. Emery and I were in charge of sharing time, which went pretty well. Then I came home and slept for a very long time.

Tomorrow morning we are heading up to the auditions at about 3...well we will see when we actually get out of here, lol. I am so excited my stomach hurts! I need to not be so nervous!

Idol Registration

So late tonight/early tomorrow (about 3 a.m.) I am headed to Salt Lake to wait in line for the American Idol registration. It is not the actual audition day, but basically the earlier you register the better your chances are. They give out wristbands and seat tickets based on how early you register, so I hope to be somewhere toward the beginning, but who knows how many people will show up. It will probably be around 8-10,000 people total. I am actually really excited to wait in line and see all the amazing singers and crazy people, lol. The problem is I think I fall somewhere in between, which makes my chances slim to none...confidence has always been a big part of my problem. I wonder how many people will dress up in a weird costume, lol. My friend Catherine is going with me, but she isn't going to be trying out. She is going to be very cranky, because she does not like getting up early (neither do I). I will try to update this tomorrow and hopefully have some pics!

oh well

Well, I botched the musical audition. I don't know what happened, but my nerves got the best of me. It has been so long since I have auditioned for anything. I sang the wrong words and asked to start over...I knew it was over at that point. Oh well, I am glad I at least made the effort I guess. I am still planning on going to the American Idol tryouts. That is just for fun cause I'm pretty sure it is rigged anyway and they only pick one out of 100 people to go to the next round...half of those are people are wearing costumes or just plain weirdos, lol.

I must say that I am excited about fantasy football this year. I have learned a lot about football and the players. I never thought I would say that I love watching football...but I really do! We have our draft a week from Sunday.

Emery got a new position at work. I am excited cause he will have a much better schedule- basically Monday thru Friday 7-5. It will be nice to have him home in the evenings. Maybe I will even get a part time job, but I'm not sure yet.

Back from Vegas

We just got back from Vegas on Saturday morning. It was pretty fun, but I guess it just isn't our type of place. We really aren't into losing money gambling or going to clubs or drinking. However, we do enjoy the buffets! We went to Hoover Dam, which was cool to see and we went to see Cirque Du Soleil Mystere, which was awesome! We went to a timeshare presentation to get discount tickets, but they didn't have enough salespeople to help us, so we got our discount without even having to attend the sales pitch! Emery and my sister went to see the Bodies Exhibit and they liked it. It was also nice going to the pool and getting a little bit of sun, it got up to 112 degrees! All in all, it was a great time, but I am glad to be back.

I am going to be auditioning for a musical at a local theatre. It is Aida, which I have never seen, but it looks good. I just want a small part, so hopefully I can land that. We will see...it's on the 17th! I will also be auditioning for American Idol just for the heck of it, since they are coming to SLC. That is at the end of the month. So I will be busy practicing for the next two weeks. Wish me luck!

growing fast

I have to admit I am not the best at this blog thing. I have never been good at keeping diaries or journals. But I am going to try to keep up with it. So I'm sorry if I don't write a ton.

Our little girl is getting so big! She will be 8 months on the 1st! She can crawl all over the place and she pulls up on things to get into a standing position. She can't go anywhere, but she holds herself up for a while.

I am excited for next month. My parents are coming down and we are going to Vegas. Emery is not a big fan of Vegas, but I think it is fun. I don't really gamble, but I enjoy just walking around and seeing everything.

It will be nice to have a vacation. Emery really needs a break from work. We have been thinking lately that we need a change. We are kind of thinking about moving to Arizona. Of course a job opportunity would have to present itself, but it is a possibility. I would enjoy not having to deal with snow! We will see what happens. I do still want to move to Oregon, but I really just want to move somewhere different right now.

yay for sunshine!

I am excited for Summer! The weather was so nice outside today! We went for a family walk and it was great. Gary got so tired and hot, which was good cause he got all of his energy out. The baby loved being outside and seeing the world. It was a pretty good day, except I am getting over a bad cold still.

On a more sad note...I need to lose weight...like, a lot of weight. I just hate the amount of work it takes to shed those pounds. I love food too much. And I am lazy. That is not a good combination. But I would really love to be able to actually wear a swimsuit with confidence again. I know I can do it. Even if I just go walk everyday I'm sure it would help. Wish me luck.

The baby is crawling now! It is so exciting...now I have to always watch her and keep her from getting into stuff. She is so cute. I wonder when she will start walking. I am guessing at ten months. She is almost seven months now. The time has really flown by!

I got a new phone...it is a Blackberry Pearl! I love it and it is such a great upgrade from the brick I was carrying around before! Yay for new technology!

Do not leave dog unattended

Ok, so it has been a while. I have been to Portland and back, but just don't have time to write at this moment...so I will leave you with this picture.

Global Warming...more like Global Freezing!

I think global warming is a bunch of crap. It snowed this week...the last week of April! Are you kidding me! I think I would prefer global warming to this cold weather. I just want summer to get here, so I can be outside doing fun things.

Tomorrow is my birthday...yay! It is sunday, so there isn't a bunch to do. We celebrated yesterday by going to Tucanos...yum! It is a Brazilian grill where you eat all the meat you can handle...and it is soooo good...especially the bacon wrapped turkey! The night was completed with some Cold Stone ice cream.

I may not be going to Portland for a while now. My aunt had surgery on her back and my mom might have to go take care of her for a bit. I'm kind of sad cause I wanted to see my fam and friends, but I guess I can wait a little longer if I need to.

So cute

The baby is trying so hard to crawl, it is so awesome! She gets really mad cause she can't quite get it. I swear she gets cuter every day. Here is a cute pic!

going to logan again

We are going to be going up to Logan again tomorrow. First we'll go to Preston to see Emery's fam, then Saturday we'll go to Logan to watch the UFC fight at Josh and Brit's house, which is always fun.

I need to get my car registered before we go, it is expired and I really don't feel like getting a ticket. We also have to go by home depot and pick up the remainder of our floor they had to order in.

Our baby (it's probably annoying that I never call her by her name, but I'm one of those paranoid people) is getting a lot more mobile. I set her down for a couple minutes and when I come back she has moved half way across the room! She still hasn't started crawling yet, but I think it will happen soon.

My birthday is in less than two weeks! Yay! I think we are going to go out to dinner and a movie, while Catherine babysits. Hopefully. Then I leave for Portland! I'm so excited to see my fam!

New listing

So lately I have been busy working on my bows, which can be rather difficult with a 5 month old baby. It seems like every time I sit down to start creating them, the little one starts screaming...oh well. Today I listed a new 3-pack, which I think is rather cute. It is $4.00 for the set of three.

The Office

I just have to say that I am so glad the office is back on! Tonights episode was hilarious! I kind of forgot how great that show really is!

My first sale!

I am so excited...I just made my first sale on ETSY!!! Someone bought three items! It is such a good feeling to know that my work paid off. I really hope they are happy with their purchase. I have such low self-esteem sometimes, I don't really know why. I am scared that buyers won't like my stuff. I know that they are good quality and I put a lot of effort into making sure they are just right, but I can't help it. But anyway, I am still super excited about it. Now I have to make some more stuff to put on my store!

Note to Self

Do not groom the dog by myself.

These pictures do not really show just how bad it really is, but it is bad.

Friday, April 4, 2008

it's been a while

I haven't written in a while...but not much has been going on. I have been working on some more bows and I added some to my etsy store. I am thinking about getting a booth at some of the local fairs this summer. I need to get a bunch made soon. It seems like every time I sit down to start working on them the baby starts crying.

We went up to Logan/Preston on Tuesday night and came back Thursday. Emery's mom liked my bows and gave me some supplies to use. She might try selling them in her store, we will see.

I realized that I need to get busy scrapbooking. The first few months after our little girl was born I was really good about it, but I have not worked on her scrapbook in quite a while. I really like digital scrapbooking though.

I had to push my Portland trip back a week cause my sister couldn't be there for the original dates I chose. I am sooo excited to go. But at least I get to spend my birthday with my husband now. I can't wait to see my family. I used to be so excited to see all of my friends, but we have just grown apart a lot in the last couple years. They are into completely different things than I am, which makes it hard because I don't like going to bars when I am home. It sucks not having a lot of good friends, but I will survive. One of my best friends, Danielle, doesn't like drinking and she just got married, so it is always good to hang out with her.

I still need to do a lot of gardening. My yard is out of control. I should post before and after pictures. Maybe.

i heart ribbon

I made some cute cards to attach my clippies to. I am going to show them to Emery's mom on Tuesday to see if she will sell them in her store. I have become obsessed with finding ribbon. I have been looking all over ebay and have gone to a few craft stores. I found some cute stuff. Now I need to figure out how to make the bigger bows. I think I will try tonight.

Bow Pics

These are the clippies and the headband I have made so far. I am still trying to perfect them, but I am really excited.

baby bows

I think I am going to start selling baby bows/clips/headbands. This all started when I was shopping for baby bows, but they were all ridiculously expensive. I then thought to myself "I think I could make those"...so I did. Surprisingly they turned out really cute. I will have to post a picture later. I am just trying to figure out how to sell them. There is a website for selling homemade stuff called www.etsy.com, so I have set up a shop on there, but I haven't finished it yet. I am going to see if Emery's mom will let me sell them in her fabric store. But I need more ideas. I actually need to build up my inventory before I even worry about that yet. I think this will be something fun for me to do, while making some money at the same time.

Easter

We had a good Easter. Went to church, came home and decorated eggs. Didn't have a good Easter dinner though...we actually just had t.v. dinners, lol. I took a couple pics of the baby, who I must say is getting cuter every day. Although she drives me absolutely insane sometimes, she is actually a great baby compared to other babies that I see crying all the time. She doesn't really cry that much and is pretty content. Some days just seem really bad. I love her so much though. I am glad that Emery is such a great dad too. He is so helpful and I appreciate him and love him so much.

I took a picture of the new floors. They are kind of hard to see, but you get the idea. I also made the curtain valance above the sink the other day and put up the decorative vine thing (I don't know how to describe it, but it is a vine with apples, pears, and leaves). I think the kitchen looks more homey now. Ignore the clutter, lol.

Shopping

Today I went shopping with Catherine. We went to IKEA and I got a rug for the kitchen. Oh yeah...we got our floor put in! Finally! It is really pretty, I will have to put up a picture later. But my dumb dog already scratched it a little bit, so we will just have to be careful with it and make sure his nails are always trimmed well. We also went to the mall in Sandy and I got a shirt. It made us very tired. But then we went and looked at wedding dresses, cause her and Mickey are going to get married next year sometime...they aren't quite engaged yet, but they already have it planned and everything.

Speaking of marriage...one of my best friends, Danielle, got married to her boyfriend of like 6 years! I am so happy for them, but I was sad I couldn't be there. They went to Vegas two weekends ago and tied the knot...now we just need her to have a baby, so she can be a cool mom like me, lol.

My daughter is so cute! She was sleeping this morning and started to laugh in her sleep...I loved it! I am glad that she had a good dream...it really makes me wonder what she was dreaming about. Man, I love her.

I get to go to Portland in a month! My parents got me a ticket for my birthday, so I will be up there with the baby for two weeks. It will be a good time, but it will suck being away from Emery for that long.

Friday, March 14, 2008

Nothin much

There hasn't really been a lot to write about I guess. The other day we did a bunch of yard work...and by the way, I will never again have a house with this many plants. Yesterday I did some cleaning and today I have just been watching the baby, who is very cranky for some reason. We got her pictures back from the photo studio at Wal-mart, and for the price we paid they actually turned out well. I am really hungry but there is nothing to eat. That is all...hopefully there will be something more exciting to write about soon.

Saturday, March 8, 2008

good movie overall

10,000 BC was really good! Well, it seemed to have some inaccuracies, but it was still quite entertaining and had good special effects. After the movie Catherine and I went to Taco Bell, which was awesome cause Emery and Mickey (her bf) hate the stuff.

I am scared I might be pregnant...even though there is like no chance of that...but I am still freaking out cause I am late...I think I will get a test to ease my nerves. Oh my goodness, I would cry!!! I am so not ready for another one of these needy little people yet, lol. Speaking of which, I think it is time to feed the little one...so I will have to write later!

Friday, March 7, 2008

Back from Logan

We had a good trip to Logan. Our friends Josh and Britt let us stay the night at their apartment the first night and then we headed to Emery's parents house to stay the second night. Oh, and El Toro Viejo was very tasty like always, but the service was terrible for some reason. We got back yesterday and it was good to sleep in our comfy bed again.

The baby had her doctor's appointment today. It sounds like she is growing properly and is healthy, so that is good. She had to get vaccinations and it made me so sad when she screamed from the shots! We have to go back in two months for more.

Tonight I am going with my friend Catherine to see 10,000 BC. I am so excited! Emery is going to watch the baby, so I can go out...he is so nice to me...I am sure he recommended this because he wants something...lol.

Gary is making me so mad lately! I think he is sick, cause he threw up on the carpet last night. He has been doing this off and on for the last two months...we really should go to the vet, but I think it is just something he is eating outside. Probably one of the many plants he has ripped up to ruin our backyard. Other than that he is a great dog, but I hate getting up in the middle of the night to clean up barf.

Here is a recent pic of our little girl.

Time to get gardening

Tomorrow we are headed up to Logan to visit friends and family. I am mostly excited to eat at one of my favorite restaurants El Toro Viejo. It is the best mexican food I have ever had...their guacamole and deep fried ice cream are to die for....yummy!

Today I went to Lowes (remember I will never shop at Home Depot again) and bought some flower seed mix, but my mom told me the kind I got will spread across the yard, so I need to return it. I also went to Costco and bought two small apple trees, but when I got home I realized there really wasn't a spot for them in the yard...so they will also be going back! Hmmm, I will have to find some other plants to put in the back yard. Our dog, Gary, has basically destroyed the yard. He decided to eat many of the plants we had. I haven't started gardening back there, but I worked on the front yard today. It was actually really nice outside.

I am very excited to see 10,000 B.C....I don't know if we will get to see it for a while...it is quite difficult with a baby. I still haven't seen a lot of movies that I want to see. Maybe we will have our friend Catherine watch the baby, she loves her.

just thinking...

I've been thinking a lot lately about the flight attendant thing. It is something that I really want to do and it is kind of like my dream job...most people will think that is crazy, but I have always wanted to do it. I think that it would be hard at first, but after I built up seniority it would be better cause I could get shorter/better trips. I guess I am really worrying over nothing cause I don't even live up there yet and don't have any clue when hubby would be able to get transfered. But it is just on my mind all the time. I can't even put into words how much I love traveling. If I won the lottery I would spend the rest of my life going everywhere in the world with my family. And I really love working with and meeting new people. I miss having friends and I love having co-workers to talk to. I have so much respect for stay at home moms. It is really hard...I mean it sounds really easy, but sometimes you just want to run away...well, not really. But I would love to have a job again. It will just be hard to figure out someone to watch our baby...my parents could probably help, but they work during the day...I don't know. I guess we will see what happens, but I would love for it to work out and I know it would bring a lot of great experiences.

Gary

This is my goldendoodle, Gary. My husband named him and I have no idea why...but he is probably the best dog in the world.

Annoyed: Part Two

Home Depot is officially my most hated store. They have now informed us that our floors have been on backorder twice and will not be shipped until March 10! We paid for them on February 5th! I can't believe this...I want a dang floor! At least we will get 30% off now...but I don't even know if it was worth it!

Ok, now I am done venting...

I love American Idol! My favorites this season are Brooke White and David Archuleta...well, and Carly Smithson, but she already had a major record deal that didn't work out, so I don't think it is quite fair. Brooke White has such a unique voice and awesome, down to earth personality. She may not be the best singer on the show, but she is the whole package in my opinion. David Archuleta is amazing for his age and his voice is just so beautiful. I think he might win the whole competition.

I miss all of my t.v. shows...the writers strike nearly destroyed me. I miss Friday Night Lights, House, and The Office so much! I shouldn't be such a couch potato, but oh well.

Annoyed

Ok, so almost a month ago we had a bunch of water damage to our house, because the washer had issues. We had to have a bunch of repairs done, including getting new kitchen flooring. Well, we ordered that on February 5th and were told it would take a week or two at the most, since it was a special order wood floor. It has now been three weeks and I am getting very annoyed. We have had no kitchen floor for a month and I have been walking around on concrete, which is not very warm in the winter. We have not received a single phone call from the store, letting us know what was going on. I am not very happy with Home Depot...I really wish I would have gone with Lowes, but HD had a good deal on the floor...however, I would have paid more for better customer service. So, we went in yesterday to talk to the manager...he apologized and gave us 10% off, which was nice, but we still don't know when the floor will be here...they are supposed to call today. Grrrr...oh well.

Unfortunate

Well, that flight attendant idea is dead. I e-mailed Horizon to ask some info and they said I wouldn't be able to choose between Portland or Seattle. Also, the trips are usually four days long. I just would not want to be away from my family for that long at a time. So I am back to the original idea of working customer service for an airline at the airport. The good thing is you still get the flight benefits, better schedule, and probably make more money overall since f.a.'s only get paid for the time they are in the air.

keeping hope alive

As I said yesterday, I would like to get a job in the travel industry. Specifically a flight attendant job. Specifically for Horizon Airlines. However, for this to work it would require Emery to get a job in Oregon, which he has been trying to do. It is very difficult though, cause he wants to stay with his current company and they only have so many transfer opportunities. Plus, when one does come up they already have someone in mind. But I am finally more hopeful. The last time we went up to visit my family he went in and talked to one of the general managers, who seemed interested and said there may or may not be an opening in April...so now we wait. Horizon was having interviews this month, which means they should probably have them again in May, which would be perfect!

I didn't think a flight attendant career would work, since we have a baby, but researching it more and reading what other Horizon employees have written, it seems like it might be ok. The training is in Portland, which is where we would be, and that is about 4 weeks long. Then new hires are "on call" for almost a year I think, which means you wait and see if they need you four days out of the week, but regardless of whether or not you fly, you still get paid...granted, it is not a lot of money, but it is still a paycheck and you still get the flight benefits. Also, most of the new people only get routes to like Seattle and other closer places, which means I wouldn't be gone for too long...sometimes overnight, but that's ok with me.

I have wanted to be a flight attendant forever. I am actually really excited about it...even though it may not happen if we can never get to Oregon...plus it is pretty competitive for the job...but I am staying optimistic. Wish me luck!

Intro to me

I guess I'll start out by saying my name is Jenny and I am a 23 year old wife and mom. I live in Utah, but wish I lived in Oregon, where I am from. I am married to a great man, Emery, and we have a beautiful 4 month old daughter, Morgan. We also have a goldendoodle (golden retriever/poodle) named Gary. I currently stay at home with Morgan, but I am seriously looking into a career in the travel industry. I love traveling and if I had unlimited funds I would try to visit every country. I am kind of a boring person I guess. I like to scrapbook, watch movies, play video games and just spend time with my family. I'm really writing this blog for myself, kind of as a journal, but anyone is welcome to read and comment if they wish.
